2014 CAANE Accomplishments
- Elder Abuse Awareness Day- Senior Expo – June 13th
- At Courthouse Square
- Approximately 120 people attended

- Great community partners and help from CAANE members
- Main stream approach to help educate the general public
- Great sponsors made the event possible- Day Air Credit Union & Digestive Specialists
- 33 vendors participated
- Presentation made to Clarke County’s new MDT regarding CAANE’s accomplishments, best practices and challenges
- Meeting and dialogue with The Library of Congress on CAANE’s Strategic Plan, Structure, Accomplishments, Goals, Vision, and work on Financial Exploitation
- Participated in Senior Day at Hara Arena
- Guest on Ombudsman’s DA TV Show to talk about elder abuse and Adult Protective Services
- CAANE meetings average attendance continues to be between 15-20 each month
- Pop-Ups in several locations in the community- Job Center, Admin. Building, and other locations as requested to help with continued education in the community about the number to call if someone suspects elder abuse
- Case Review Subcommittee- reviewed several difficult cases and many helpful suggestions were provided for these difficult cases
- Advocacy related information is being disseminated to the CAANE committee members as issues and legislation comes up
- Outreach and additional new members this year
- APS 24 hour emergency hot-line continues
- Financial exploitation briefing held at Lathrem Senior Center (Day Air Credit Union, Legal Aid and Adult Protective Services)
- Increased efforts and planning on more mainstream education of elder abuse
- Great presentations from various community partners to help educate the group on community resources and important information
- Advocacy efforts helped the $10 million allocation to Adult Protective Services (APS). The largest allocation for APS in Ohio’s history.
